If there were any unforeseen circumstances that caused missing HW just let me know by email or in a note. Reminders for upcoming events:
*During our holiday party (on December 18th from 2-3pm), students will be doing a craft where they need to bring in a piece of decorative fabric of their choice and a glass plate with a rounded bottom and edges. They may be found at stores like Walmart or Goodwill. A note will be sent home on Monday with more details. Parents may also attend our party and do crafts with their child. Treats/goodies are always welcome to attend!!
*Begin working on your wax museum costumes at home and I will let you take home any supplies you may need from the classroom. You must have a costume created and at least one prop that has to do with your scientist or something he/she invented in energy. If you have any questions during the week about props just ask :O) Our wax museum will be during the week of December 18th. More information will be sent home this week for parents to attend.
*We will have to spend one more Saturday working in the garden. The date will be December 21st. I have one truck that can help and will be looking for 1 or 2 more available truck volunteers to be willing to dirty up their trucks.
*Classroom pictures...
I know that pictures have not been updated in a while :(. I am having technical difficulties and am unable to access the pictures at the moment. I have been working on getting it fixed. I have so many awesome pictures that need to be uploaded and will let everyone know when I am able to get them on here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

December updates....
* We will soon be having a Wax Museum. Please stay tuned for the date as students are still completing their research and costume preparations and planning. I would like for students to use the recycled materials in our classroom to be creative in their costumes and props, rather than spending money on materials. We have so much recycled stuff!!!
*We received a new, surprise, class pet today...butterfly eggs!! We will be observing the butterfly lifecycle in our very own classroom and will be able to release the butterflies after they have gone through metamorphoses.

Code Red TODAY
*There was code red this morning, at Lawnwood, which lasted about 45 minutes. This WAS NOT a drill. We now have an "All Clear" (1:39 pm) and every student in the school is okay.
*Please speak to your child about the seriousness of "code red" because there were many that did not take it seriously. I was very surprised and dissapointed to see this because we have had multiple code red practice drills and class conversations about the seriousness of having a REAL code red.

Exciting News!!!!!!
Hey everyone! I had requested a recess grant for a set of recess equipment. I just saw an email saying that our class has received the grant and we will be getting a full set of recess equipment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The set will include:

*soccer balls
*footballs
*Baseball bats, balls, bases
*jump ropes

Thank you for being such an amazing group of 3rd graders and I will always do my best to make school a fun place to learn. I really wanted us to have some recess equipment since there is never much to do out there. I hope that you will all be just as excited as I am about this!! I have two other grants that I have requested for us. One is for a science project and the other is for social studies materials. Hopefully we will get them, too!!!
See you on Monday and check the website this weekend for pictures I will be posting.

September's important dates to remember:
September 2 - Labor Day More updates:
* The school passed out large pink signs for parents to have in their cars when picking up students at the end of the day. Please use this instead of the white ones I gave out. The white sign can be used as a back up sign or to put in an additional car that may come to pick up your child. I did not know they were giving them special pink signs, sorry!
* Check out our classroom expectations under the "Rules and Conduct" page. The class worked together to create an amazing set of expectations! *Lastly, I will send a letter home on Friday including an updated plan for weekly homework assignments. They will soon be added onto homework responcibilities. We have not been told when students will receive their planners, but for now, I am having them write it out on looseleaf paper in their "Take Home" folders. You can confirm homework by checking the homework page. For any questions, or concerns feel free to contact me :). First day of school is over!!Today was such a wonderful start to the new school year! There was a lot to get done, but we made it happen! **Parents, I will be sending home a sign with your child's name and grade on it for use on days when your child is parent pick up. Please place it on the right passenger side window of your car so we will be able to quickly and easily spot you! Thanks!
**I will be awaiting student emails! Have fun checking out your new class site! |
