Recycling Unit: Week 2

Multiplication Art Project
Here we are presenting our "Mystery Boxes" to the class and you can see our past project hanging in the Discovery Center for everyone to check them out!
In this album we are practicing new vocabulary, drawing conclusions about Mrs. S, working on our "Mystery Box" project, and making human arrays (as a part of our multiplication unit).
Science & Ice Cream?? Can it be TRUEEE?????
Recipe for ice-cream in a bag:
*1/2 cup of heavy cream or half and half
*1 Tablespoon sugar
*1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
*2 quart sized bag
*1/2 cup of rock salt
*enough ice-cubes to fill half a gallon sized bag
1) Add the first three ingredients into a quart size ziploc bag. Double bag the bag so salt does not get into your ice cream of tear the bag.
2) Add the salt and ice to the gallon size bag. Put the small ziploc with your liquid ice cream into the gallon size bag and seal securely. You may also double bag it, again.
3) Shake the bag for 15 minutes.
4) Enjoy!

Who needs rain when you can have slimy, sticky, OOBLECK!!
Recipe for making icky sticky oobleck:
*1/2 cup of cornstarch
*1/4 cup of water (a little more may be needed so it reaches the consistency of pancake mix)
1) In a small bowl combine cornstarch and water.
2) Play with the oobleck and observe how it changes from a liquid to a solid, over and over again! If it becomes a little dry, just add more water!
